Tuesday, January 30: Today we learned about what the Articles of Confederation were and how they set up a government. Students then completed W. 10-13 (if absent, these pages have the information needed about the Articles). They then had some time to finish the map on W. 4-5.

Students completed W. 14-17. They then wrote a DBQ paragraph, using the document on W. 16 to answer the following question: Did Jefferson want to see America form a strong central government? Monday, January 22: Students had their last go at the Blow the Roof Off activity. They then took notes on advantages & disadvantages going into the Revolutionary War on W. 8 (if absent, find PowerPoint on Documents page or see Ms. Nay/peer). Students then worked on mapping the war on W. 4-5, using the instruction packet (available on the Documents page).
Due: None In Class: W. 8 Notes, W. 4-5 Homework: None Wednesday, January 24: Students found out what happened to the colonists whose names the received earlier. They then took notes on W. 6 on Major Battles of the Revolution (if absent, find PowerPoint on Documents page). If time, students worked on their maps on W. 4-5. Due: None In Class: W. 6 Foldable Notes Homework: None Friday, January 26: We watched Episode 2 of America: The Story of Us, completing W. 7 while watching. If absent, there are two options. 1) Come to a lab to watch the video, 2) Write three paragraphs about three major battles of the Revolutionary War. With any remaining time, students worked on their maps on W. 4-5 Due: None In Class: W. 7, W. 4-5 Homework: Current Event #1, Complete W. 4-5 (instructions available on documents page) Tuesday, January 16: Today we discussed the quarter final and that we will be re-taking the written portion. We then had a discussion about how to write an appropriate informational paragraph, with tips on how to be successful (especially in a testing situation). We will take the test again next class.
Due: None In Class: No assignment Homework: Re-prepare for written test Thursday, January 18: Today we re-took the writing portion of the quarter final. All students participated. The grades will go on Term 3. Students then had time to work on W. 2-3, using the provided informational packet (packet on documents page). The class then had one last chance at the Blow the Roof Off activity. If time, we began discussing and taking notes on advantages and disadvantages going into the Revolutionary War.
