Monday, April 25: Students presented their skits on westward expansion. We then discussed an overview of the War of 1812. The Powerpoint is on the documents page. Lastly, students completed W. 52 (except for the last two questions), pre-assessing knowledge of the Civil War.

Students then participated in an activity brainstorming about the causes of the Civil War. If absent, answer the following questions on a separate piece of paper and turn in: 1. What is a civil war? 2. What are advantages/disadvantages in a war? 3. What was life in the North like? 4. What was life in the South like? 5. What causes war? 6. Tuesday, April 19: Students finished taking notes on W. 50 about westward expansion. Students were divided into groups and assigned a portion of westward expansion to create a newscast skit about. These will be presented on Friday.
