Monday, September 24: As a class we read T. 30 and completed a Read Stop Write (found on W. 64 - only complete one of the three sections on the page). Students then began working on the Chapter 2 Study Guide (W. 18-21) using chapter 2 in the textbook. This is not expected to be completed today. The goal is that students will complete W. 18-19. If time, they also worked on their Geologic Era timelines.

Tuesday, September 18: We went over the vocabulary on W. 15, drawing a simple picture for each word. Students then had the class period to work on their 5 Themes Project (due next class).
Due: Current Event #3 In Class: W. 15 Vocab Pictures, Project Homework: Finish 5 Themes Project Thursday, September 20: Today we went over our Chapter 2 PowerPoint, completing W. 16 (PowerPoint on Documents Page). We then discussed the geologic eras found on T. 26-28. Students then created a poster for one of the geologic eras. If absent, choose one era and create a simple poster on a regular sized piece of paper and include the name of the era, information, and two pictures (drawn or printed). Due: 5 Themes Project In Class: W. 16, Geologic Era Poster Homework: None Monday, September 10: First, the maps on W. 5-7 were checked off. Then students took their first try at the Counties Test. Students must get 100% (including spelling) and have multiple tries to do so. We then learned about the Rain Shadow Effect, completing W. 8. If absent, see T. 21 for an explanation and the diagram to draw on W. 8. Students then selected their 5 Themes Project and started working on it. They received the instructions for their individual project today.
Due: W. 5-7 In Class: Counties Try #1, W. 8, Start Project Homework: Study counties Wednesday, September 12: First we had a brief discussion about 9/11 and students were able to ask any questions they have about the events of that day. Next, students took their second attempt at the counties quiz. Then we reviewed for the test next class on the 5 themes of geography and Utah's physical features. Lastly, students had time to work on their projects. Due: None In Class: Counties Test Take 2, 5 Themes Project Homework: Study for unit test, workbook ready to turn in Friday, September 14: Today was the unit test. If absent, please come to a lab ASAP to make it up. Students then had the rest of the class period to work on their projects. Due: Workbooks In Class: Unit Test, 5 Themes Project Homework: Current Event #3, Study Counties, Work on Project Tuesday, September 4: We reviewed Movement today with the accompanying PowerPoint (see documents page). Students completed W. 11 using their textbook. They then worked on their maps on W. 5-7, labeling and coloring them. If time, students were introduced to the 5 Themes project options.
