Monday, October 29: We reviewed information about Latin American revolutions with a Kahoot. We then discussed why people move (PowerPoint on documents page) and took some notes. Next, students were assigned a role in a case study about urbanization in Brazil. They then must make an argument for their role based on the information provided. There will be small group debates at the beginning of next class.

Each decision-maker then presented their group's outcome to the class. We then reviewed the countries in Latin America in preparation for the map test next class. We then outlined various regional challenges Latin America faces. Students received their roles for our next case study: deforestation. They had any remaining class time to review their roles. Students will have 30 minutes next class for additional preparation before our Summit begins. Tuesday, October 23: First we discussed NAFTA and the new USMCA, comparing them and discussing your NAFTA reports. Then we introduced Latin America, completing notes that apply the 5 Themes of Geography to the region (see Documents page for slides and notes page if absent). If time, we then shared country reports for the region.

Then students wrote a one page essay on how NAFTA helps and hurts their assigned country. Lastly, they started their country profile for a Latin American country.
