We then discussed why people move (PowerPoint on documents page) and took some notes. Next, students were assigned a role in a case study about urbanization in Brazil. They then must make an argument for their role based on the information provided. There will be small group debates at the beginning of next class.

Each decision-maker then presented their group's outcome to the class. We then reviewed the countries in Latin America in preparation for the map test next class. We then outlined various regional challenges Latin America faces. Students received their roles for our next case study: deforestation. They had any remaining class time to review their roles.
