Tuesday, August 19: We took some quick notes on the Seven Eras of Filmmaking. We then watched The Great Train Robbery, one of the first films with a storyline. Afterword, read through the "script" of the film and watched it again. Students completed the Motion Picture Analysis Worksheet for the film, and started thinking about their topics for their projects.
Turned in: Film Analysis Homework: Topic Proposal due Monday, August 25 Thursday, August 21: Today we watched Seven Chances, a silent film from 1925 starring Buster Keaton. After the movie, we discussed what we could learn about the 1920s from this film. We also discussed film strategies and qualities that were used in this film that were not in The Great Train Robbery. Homework: Topic Proposal due Monday! One paragraph telling me what historical topic your project will be about, why you are choosing it, and a little about what you are planning to do for the project.
