Monday, November 10: Finished the 13 Colonies Spreadsheet on p. 52-53 in the workbook. We then discussed what a thesis statement is and completed p. 56-57 in the workbook.
Due: Section Quiz 3-3 In class: p. 52-53, 56-57 in the workbook Homework: p. 86-93 in textbook and Section 3-4 Quiz Wednesday, November 12: First we discussed the prompt for their next essay (compare and contrast two of the following: Roanoke, Jamestown, or Plymouth). Students began their preparation by choosing two of the settlements to compare and completing a topic notes page for each one (p. 58-59). Resources are available on the Documents page. Due: Current Event #2 In Class: p. 52-53, 56-57, 58-59 Homework: Finish topic notes (p. 58-59) Thursday, November 13: Class begin with a discussion of how to compare and contrast. Having completed the research for their essay, students complete the compare and contrast chart graphic organizer on p. 60 of the workbook in preparation for their essay. As a class, we then go over the basic format of an essay. Student then outline their own essay on p. 61. Lastly, the class participates in a review activity in preparation for the test next class on colonization.
