Tuesday, May 5: Today students had some time to finish their battles maps on p. 68-69 in the workbook. The instruction packet is available on the Documents page. Students then completed p. 70 in the workbook as we went through a PowerPoint and read summaries of the main battles of the first half of the Civil War. If absent, research each battle on p. 70 to find out what happened. Record the chronological order, the winner, and why each battle was significant.

We continued the document analysis by reading the Emancipation Proclamation (p. 74 in workbook) and answering the questions on p. 75 of the workbook. We then discussed the major battles in the second half of the war, writing why each was significant and plotting them on the timeline (p. 78 in workbook). If absent, research these battles, write why they were significant, and plot them on the timeline.
