Tuesday, January 27: Today we finished talking about the major battles of the Revolutionary War. Students then re-enacted the battle of Yorktown. Next, we watched episode 2 of America: The Story of Us. Students completed the video guide on p. 6 of the workbook (if absent, please see Ms. Nay for alternate assignment).

Wednesday, January 21: Class began with a vocabulary quiz. Today students completed an assignment deciding if a certain character would be a Loyalist or a Patriot, and which one would turn spy (if absent, this assignment is available on the documents page). Students then created their own mini soldier for either a Loyalist or Patriot, depending on which side they have ended up on at this point. They then participated in a simulation of Valley Forge.

In Class: p. 4-5 of workbook Homework: Current Event Monday, January 12: Today we had our first Town Meeting as citizens of Boston in the 1770s. Students introduced their characters with some background and a visual representation. Students then received their new workbooks for semester 2 and completed the Beginning of the Revolution assignment on pages 2-3, using the accompanying packet. If absent, please pick up your workbook and a reading packet to complete the assignment. The reading is also available on the documents page.

In Class: Dear Diary Prompt Friday, January 16: Today students participated in Episode 3 of the Simulation: Declaring Independence. Students read the Declaration of Independence and then worked on p. 7 of the workbook. In Class: Dear Diary Prompt, p. 7 in the workbook Homework: Finish p. 7 in the workbook Tuesday, January 6: Today we watched the second half of America: The Story of Us, Episode 1, and completed the video guide on p. 94 of the workbook. If absent, please come after school to make up this assignment. We then completed p. 93 of the workbook as a review of the causes of the American Revolution. Next, we did the Blow the Roof Off activity for the last time. Lastly, in any spare time, students outlined what they want to include in their Essay Test next class.
