Tuesday, April 26: Class began with a quiz on Westward Expansion. Students then participated in an activity brainstorming about the causes of the Civil War. If absent, answer the following questions on a separate piece of paper and turn in:
1. What is a civil war? 2. What are advantages/disadvantages in a war? 3. What was life in the North like? 4. What was life in the South like? 5. What causes war? 6. What was the view of slavery in the early 1800s? We then started a Powerpoint on the causes of the Civil War. If absent, see a peer for notes. Monday, April 18: Today we finished watching Newsies, and then discussed how it relates to the Industrial Revolution. We then took some notes on W. 46 on the Louisiana Purchase (if absent, get PowerPoint from Documents page or notes from a peer) and labeled the map on W. 48 (see Ms. Nay or a peer with how to label the map). They then divided into groups to learn about and prepare a newscast skit on Westward Expansion. If absent, complete the notes page on W. 50, using the provided textbook pages.
