Monday, January 28: We finished watching episode 2 of America: The Story of Us. We then discussed the Articles of Confederation, what they were and why they were problematic. Click here for the Prezi presentation on the Articles. Students then completed W. 10-13.

Students read W. 15 and filled in W. 14. We then read the primary source on W. 16 and discussed Jefferson's view of Shays' Rebellion. Students completed W. 17 using complete sentences. Due: Workbook (2-17) In Class: W. 14-17 Homework: None Friday, February 1: As a class we went over the Preamble to the Constitution, defining terms and discussing what each part means (the Preamble is in your copy of the Constitution you received in class). Students will be required to memorize and recite the Preamble. We then started watching A More Perfect Union, answering the corresponding questions on the video guide on W. 18. Tuesday, January 21: We started by taking notes on the advantages and disadvantages of the British and the Americans in the Revolutionary War on W. 8 (See Ms. Nay or a peer for notes if absent). We then completed one foldable on W. 6 about major leaders and battles in the war (again, if absent see Ms. Nay or a peer for notes, or the Powerpoint on the Documents page). Students then worked on mapping the battles on W. 4-5 (requires instructions found on Documents page). This is homework.

We then watched Episode 2 of America: The Story of Us. Students completed the video guide on W. 7 while viewing. If absent, come to a lab to view the episode or write a paragraph about either the Battle of Saratoga or the Winter at Valley Forge, and a paragraph on the Battle of Yorktown (for a total of two paragraphs). Students also had their last go at the Blow the Roof Off to decide the winning class.
