Tuesday, April 28: Students were given five minutes at the beginning of class to review for their test. Students then took the Causes of the Civil War Essay Test. In the remaining time, students completed the 'Setting the Stage' assignments on p. 62-65 in the workbook.

Using the PowerPoint, students took notes in foldables on p. 66-67 of the workbook. We then reviewed by using a venn diagram to compare North and South. Monday, April 20: Today we watched Episode 4 of America: The Story of Us. Students completed p. 59-60 in the workbook. If absent, come to a lab to make up or watch the episode on Netflix. Students had the remaining time in class to work on the Causes of the Civil War worksheet, p. 57-58 in the workbook, using the provided packet. This packet is available on the Documents page.
In Class: p. 59-60 in workbook Homework: p. 57-58 in workbook Wednesday, April 22: Today students continued to analyze the causes of the Civil War. Students were presented with different pieces of art or primary sources and discussed them. They then cut and pasted images onto a timeline to represent the causes of the Civil War. If absent, download "The Gathering Storm" documents. In Class: The Gathering Storm Timeline Friday, April 24: Class began with the students watching Journey to Freedom. If absent, please come to a lab to make up. Students then completed the pre-assessment on p. 54 of the workbook (except for the last section on the page). Next, students participated in a carousel brainstorm about the Civil War. They were then divided into groups and given data cards about the time leading to the Civil War. As a group, they read the data cards and completed p. 55 in the workbook (if absent, download data cards from Documents page). Lastly, students made their foldables for p. 56 notes, which we will begin next class.
