Tuesday, August 25: Class began by finishing the PowerPoint and notes about the Maya (W. 3-4, if absent, PowerPoint is on Documents page as 'Ancient Maya'). Students then worked with a partner to figure out the 'Maya Mysteries' (W. 8-10). Next we read about the Maya as a class, textbook p. 22-24. With any remaining time, we began the Aztec informational PowerPoint (available on Documents page).
Due: Current Event, Textbook covered In Class: Maya Study Guide (W. 3-4), Maya Mysteries (W. 8-10) Homework: None Thursday, August 27: Today we continued and finished the Aztec informational PowerPoint, completing the Aztec Study Guide (W. 4-5). We then completed the Primary Source Analysis (W. 11-12). First, we discussed the documents. Then, students answered the questions in complete sentences. Lastly, on a separate piece of paper, students turned their answers into a paragraph about the first document (W. 11). We practiced how to write an appropriate Document Based paragraph and how/when to refer to the document in a citation. Students will complete their second paragraph at home (based on W. 12 document).
