Monday, August 31: Today we learned about the Inca. We went over the Inca PowerPoint (documents page) and finished the study guide (W. 6). Next we read textbook p. 26 to sum up the Inca. We then watched a documentary on the Inca and completed the video guide (W. 15). If absent, you have two options: 1) Find the answers to the questions online (answer using complete sentences), 2) Come to a lab to watch the video to get the answers (use complete sentences).
Due: Aztec Document 2 Questions (W. 12) In Class: Inca Study Guide (W. 6), Inca Video Guide (W. 15), Read T. 26 Homework: none Wednesday, September 2: Today we discussed Aztec Document 2 (W. 12). Students responded to the following prompt and wrote a paragraph to answer the question using the document: "Based on the picture, how can we tell that the Aztec were an advanced civilization?" Next, students were divided into pairs or groups and assigned a section in the textbook from p. 28-33 to read. They were to fill in the chart on W. 16-17 for their assigned region, then create a small poster to present the information to the rest of the class. If absent, use the textbook pages to complete the chart. In Class: DBQ Paragraph for W. 12, DBQ Paragraph for W. 14, Regional tribes poster, Native American Cultures Across the U.S. Chart (W. 16-17) Homework: DBQ Paragraph for W. 14 Friday, September 4: If we didn't finish in the previous class, we completed the poster presentations and filled in the rest of the chart on W. 16-17. Next we practiced reading maps, analyzing information about Native American populations in North America in A.D. 1500 (W. 18-19).
