Tuesday, September 15: To begin, we reviewed some current events. We then began Unit 2: Age of Exploration. Next, we looked at the chapter overview on W. 21. Students then took notes on a Foldable on W. 22 about Pre-Columbian Europe (see Documents page if absent; you my get the notes from a peer, but be sure to read T. 38-42). In the lecture, we discussed the different events in European history that explain European culture and brought about the Age of Exploration and Renaissance. As a class, we then read W. 23 about changing maps in a changing world. Students then completed W. 24 with a partner, then we discussed answers as a class. Lastly, students practiced understanding Latitude and Longitude with W. 25-26.

Students then learned about Christopher Columbus--who he was, what inspired him, his goals, and his voyages (if absent, read T. 45-47 to get the information). Lastly, students read W. 28-29 with a partner and answered questions 1-11 on W. 32.
