Monday, August 27: Today we reviewed location. Students completed W. 4 (Places in Utah) with a partner, answering the riddles by using the coordinates to find a location on the map. If absent, see Ms. Nay to borrow a map to complete the page. Students also read T. 7-8 with their partner, completing the top portion of W. 10 (stopping at Utah's Land Regions).

Students completed W. 10 and the first half of W. 11 with their partner, using the textbook. Next, students labeled their counties maps on W. 5 as Ms. Nay told them a story to help remember the county names. If absent, please find a map of Utah and label the names of the counties on W. 5. If time, students worked on labeling the mountains, rivers, and lakes on W. 6-7, or coloring their maps. Tuesday, August 21: Today we corrected the How Well Do You Know Utah assignment. Next, we started to discuss geography in Utah. We took notes on the 5 Themes of Geography on W. 2. If absent, see Ms. Nay for a brief overview of the notes. Lastly, students had time to work on the 5 Themes Practice on W. 3.
Due: Current Event #1 In Class: W. 2 Homework: 5 Themes Practice (W. 3) Thursday, August 23: First, we corrected the homework (W. 3). As a class we read T. 3-6 and completed W. 9 together. Next, we discussed latitude and longitude, and how it works. Students practiced finding locations on a map. Lastly, we reviewed relative location. Due: 5 Themes Practice (W. 3) In Class: W. 9 (using T. 3-9) Homework: None Tuesday, August 14: Welcome to 7th grade Utah Studies! Today we got to know each other with an icebreaker activity. We then went over some of the rules and procedures for this class. Students received the disclosure statement if this was not picked up at Back to School Night. The signed disclosure page is due Friday.

Students answered as many of the questions on the very first page of the red workbook as they could. We will go over the rest of them on Friday. Students then completed partner sign ups. Students are allowed to use their textbooks, friends, parents, and the internet to complete as many questions as they can.
