Monday, November 28: Today we learned about famous mountain men. If absent, see the Documents page for the famous mountain men PowerPoint and take notes on W. 51. Then, to review, students completed W. 52-53. If there was extra time, students were able to catch up on any missed assignments.

Once given their mountain man, students used the chrome books to do some research, completing W. 61-62 in the process. Due: none In Class: W. 61-62 Homework: Finish W. 61-62 if not finished in class Friday, December 2: Today we discussed fact and opinion, completing W. 64 in the process. Ms. Nay then told some mountain man tall tales and we discussed what a tall tale is. Students read W. 56-57. They then started writing a tall tale of their own on W. 58, taking an event from their life and exaggerating it to epic proportions. Due: Current Event #2 In Class: No assignments Homework: None Monday, November 14: Today was our unit test on Native Americans. If absent, please come to an after school lab to take the test. We then completed a read stop write with T. 68-69. Lastly, we tested the atlatl projects.

Students then went on an expedition around the school and mapped the school on W. 47. Due: none In Class: W. 46-47 Homework: None Friday, November 18: The mountain men of Utah unit was introduced and students completed an application to be a mountain man on W. 49. We then read W. 50 as a class and completed the page. We also read and completed W. 54-55. Due: none In Class: W. 49-50, 54-55 Homework: Current Event #2 Tuesday, November 8: Today we created a foldable for W. 40 and learned about the impact of the Native Americans on Utah (find PowerPoint on Documents page). We then reviewed for the unit test next week. Lastly, students worked on their legends.

We then learned about legends, reading W. 36-37 together. Students then started writing their own legend on W. 39, using a story to explain some natural phenomenon in the world.
