Tuesday, August 25: We began class by reviewing some current events. Students have their first one due today. We then corrected the 5 Themes Practice homework (W. 3). Next, students created their partner clocks in their workbook (if absent, see Ms. Nay for your clock). Next, we started the Chapter 1 Study Guide (W. 11). To do so, we read in the textbook together starting on p. 3 and continuing on to p. 7. With any time left, we went over the vocabulary terms for Unit 1 (W. 1).

Students then got with their 4 o'clock partner to complete workbook p. 4 (W.4). We then checked the answer and reviewed the definition of place. Students then began to label and color their maps of Utah (W. 5-8). There will be some time next class to work on this, but students should have started on their second map by the end of the class period. Tuesday, August 18: Welcome back to school! Today we did a get to know you activity. Students then received the disclosure and we reviewed class rules, procedures, and expectations. Your homework is to read the disclosure with a parent and have both of you sign it and return it. Were you absent? If so, you can download your own copy of the disclosure. Please read it!
Homework: Get Disclosure Signed (due August 21) Wednesday, August 19: Today we went back over the class rules, procedures, and expectations. Students then completed an activity about how well they know Utah. While doing so, they received their textbooks. These need to be covered by August 25th. For the "How Well Do You Know Utah" activity, if students finish and get 100% they will receive a homework pass. Students received their workbooks today. If absent, see Ms. Nay for your workbook and textbook. In Class: How Well Do You Know Utah? Homework: Finish How Well Do You Know Utah, Get Disclosure Signed Friday, August 21: First, we corrected the homework from last class. Students then took a brief pre-test on geography. Students were then introduced to the 5 Themes of Geography, using p. 2 in their workbook to take notes. IF absent, please come to an after school lab for a brief introduction to the 5 themes. We then practiced how to complete a current event. Lastly, students were assigned the 5 Themes Practice on p. 2-3 of the workbook. If unfinished in class, this is homework.
