Tuesday, September 26: Today we learned about the Geologic Eras. We did a RSW of T. 28-29, completing one more RSW on W. 72. Students then divided into groups to create a column poster about one of the Geologic Eras. If absent, create a small poster on the Era of your choice (these can be found on T. 26-27). Students presented their poster at the end of class. If students finished early, the read T. 36-37 with their group.

Thursday, September 28: Class began by reading T. 34 with a partner. We then looked at some rocks from Utah and tried to decide what type of rock they were. We then played Geology BINGO. Students were encouraged throughout the game to put notes on an index card they may use on the quiz next class. If absent, you may make some notes from Chapter 2 on an index card for Monday.

Monday, September 19: Students were given a few minutes to review for the test. They then took the Unit 1 test on Geography. If absent, please come to an afters school lab ASAP to make up this test. Students were then given time to either finish their 5 Themes Project or, if they finish, to begin working on the Chapter 2 Study Guide in their workbooks (W. 21-24).

Wednesday, September 21: Today we went over the Chapter 2 PowerPoint to introduce our next unit: Geology. We took some notes on W. 18. If absent, find the PowerPoint on the Documents page to get the notes. Students then worked on the Chapter 2 Study Guide (W. 21-24). Students were given their last opportunity to take the Counties Quiz if needed.

Tuesday, September 13: Today we learned about the Rain Shadow Effect, and drew a diagram of the system on W. 10. If absent, see T. 21 for an explanation and the diagram to draw on W. 10. Thursday, September 15: Students were given the first half of class to work on their 5 Themes Projects. They then participated in a review game in preparation for the unit test next class period.

Wednesday, September 7: In class we looked at some pictures and decided whether or not they were from Mars or Utah, and reviewed region in the process. We then reviewed the themes Human Environment Interactions and Movement. The Powerpoints we used are on the Documents page. Students then took their first Counties Map Quiz. They will have multiple attempts to get 100% (including spelling). The last day to take the quiz is September 21. If there was time, students were able to finish the Chapter 1 Study Guide or reviewed the maps.

Friday, September 9: Class started with another attempt at the counties quiz. We then discussed the events of 9/11, answering student questions. Students then started on the 5 Themes project. If absent, see Ms. Nay for your project choices. These will be due September 21st.
