Tuesday, September 29: Class began with a brief review for the test today. We then took the test on Unit 2: Geology (if absent, please come to an after school lab ASAP to make up and turn in your workbook). With the remaining time after the test, we reviewed current events. We then went over the Unit Overview for Unit 3 (in the workbook) and discussed the expectations for the Unit Project (see W. 41).

If absent, use the PowerPoint available on the Documents page of the website to complete the boxes for the Paleo and Archaic groups on W. 28. Monday, September 21: Today we read T. 34-38 as a class. Students then had an opportunity to take the Counties Test again. They then finished their study guides W. 21-24. Lastly, students began working on their Geology Pamphlet. They will have the week to work on it.

Students then worked on the Chapter 2 Study Guide (W. 21-24) with a partner.

Students then completed W. 19 with a partner. As a class, we read T. 30-33. Students then received the instructions for the Geology of Utah Pamphlet that they will be creating (see W. 20). This pamphlet may be used on the test. Students had time to finish their Chp. 2 Study Guide (W. 21-24). If they finished early, they began on their pamphlets. Students were then given time to type up their 5 Themes of Geography Essays, which will be due next class. If there was any time remaining, we reviewed for the test in two class periods.

We reviewed for the test on geography by doing different activities. We reviewed the 5 Themes of Geography as well as the mountains, rivers, and lakes of Utah. We also briefly discussed the events of 9/11. In any extra time, students were able to complete any assignments in the workbook that are incomplete in order for it to be ready to turn in next class. Due: Essay Final Draft by Midnight In Class: Review Homework: Study for Test, Workbook Unit 1 Assignments Completed, Current Event #2 Monday, August 31: Today we reviewed Region. We discussed the difference between political and physical regions. We also went over a Powerpoint discussing the three major physical regions of Utah (if absent, see Documents page). Ms. Nay then told the 'Counties Soap Opera' to help students remember where the counties are located. Next, we read p. 8-11 in the textbook as a class. With their 6 o'clock partner, students completed the next part of the Chapter 1 Study Guide (W. 12). They then had time to finish their maps (W. 5-9).

Next we read p. 12-17 as a class. Then, with their 10 o'clock partner, they completed the next part of the Chapter 1 Study Guide (W. 14). When finished, students were introduced to the 5 Themes Essay (outline & expectations W. 15). We then checked that their maps were labeled correctly. With any spare time, the class played 'Splat the Board' to review the physical features of Utah.
