Tuesday, February 27: Today we reviewed the foldable on W. 32. Students then took some picture notes on W. 33. For each section of the foldable, students are to draw two simple pictures. If time, students were introduced to the newspaper assignment on W. 35.

Wednesday, February 21: Students completed a Read Stop Write for T. 146-148. Next, they completed W. 26, brainstorming ways the settlers and natives helped & hurt each other. Then they wrote a two voice poem on W. 29, using the perspectives of the settlers and natives. Each perspective must say at least ten things. If they finished, they used the vocabulary words on W. 23 to do the following on W. 22:
1. Write the word so you'll remember it 2. Use it in a sentence 3. Write a synonym 4. Write an antonym 5. Draw a small, simple picture to represent the word. Due: Workbook In Class: RSW 146-148, W. 26, W. 29 Homework: None Friday, February 23: Students had the opportunity to share their two voice poems with the class. We then made a foldable for W. 32 and started to take some notes on life in territorial Utah. If absent, see a peer or Ms. Nay for the notes. Due: None In Class: W. 32 foldable (started) Homework: Current Event #3 Monday, February 12: Today we discussed conflict, it's causes, and how to positively resolve it. Students responded to some scenarios and then answered a conflict resolution quiz. If not finished in class, we will finish next time.

Students then were assigned one section of W. 25 and researched & completed it. They then completed a poster on the assigned conflict, using the instructions on W. 24. If absent, choose one of the conflicts on W. 25 to complete the row on W. 25 and create a poster for (W. 24). Due: None In Class: RSW 144-145, W. 25 (one column), Conflict Poster Homework: Finish poster (instructions on W. 24) Friday, February 16: Students shared their posters. Students completed W. 25 from the posters. They then went through the textbook to see if there was any important information to add to W. 25. If absent, complete the rest of W. 25 using your textbook or the internet. They were then introduced to the two-voice poem (information on W. 27-28). We read a sample two-voice poem. Students than worked on their Mission to Mars brochures.
