Tuesday, February 9: Today we briefly discussed the Mission to Mars project and how it connected to Utah Studies. We then began our conflict Utah, focusing on the conflict between the Mormon settlers and the Native Americans of the area. We went over the unit guide on W. 23, looking especially at the vocabulary. Students were divided into groups and asked to create a 'machine' that used all five of the vocabulary words. We then discussed how students define conflict. Students completed a small questionnaire about conflict. They then interviewed each other to find out different perspectives. We discussed more about how conflict arises. With a clock partner, students then read T. 144-145 and completed a Read Stop Write. Next, students were assigned a conflict on W. 25 (if absent, see Ms. Nay for your assignment). Students began to research the conflict using the textbook and online sources.
