Monday, February 23: Today we presented the posters from last class and filled in the chart on p. 25 of the workbook. If absent, complete the chart using textbook. We then read p. 129-132 in the textbook and completed a Read, Stop, Write on p. 84 of the workbook. We discussed the reading extensively and shared our RSW's. We then read an example two-voice poem, which students will write their own of next class.
In Class: p. 25 in workbook, one RSW Wednesday, February 25: Today students read p. 135-138 in the textbook and completed one Read, Stop, Write on p. 84 of the workbook. They then completed p. 26 in the workbook, brainstorming with a partner ways the Native Americans and Settlers helped or hurt each other. They then wrote a two-voice poem about conflict in Utah, with one perspective the settlers and the other perspective the Native Americans. They can write this with a partner or by themselves. Instructions for two-voice poems are on p. 27-28 in the workbook, and the poem itself should be written on p. 29 of the workbook. In Class: p. 26 & 29 in workbook, one RSW Homework: Study for quiz next class, finish two-voice poem if not finished in class Friday, February 27: Students presented their two-voice poems from last class.
