Tuesday, September 30: Class began with the Unit 3 Vocabulary Quiz, after which those students who needed to retake to counties quiz did so. Next, students watched a video about the Anasazi and wrote 6 quiz questions about the video. We took a break halfway through the video to look at a chart of the Native American populations in Utah from the 2000 U.S. Census report.
Due: Current Event #4 In Class: Vocab Quiz, Video Quiz Question Creation Homework: none Thursday, October 2: Students had their last chance in class to pass the counties quiz. With their 4 o’clock partner, students figured out based on the provided information in the textbook where each of the historic tribes of Utah lived and plotted them on the map of Utah in their workbooks on page 26. Students were then introduced to their first historic tribe of Utah: the Paiute. Using the PowerPoint presentation, students completed the Paiute section of their Native American chart (see Documents page for PowerPoint, chart on p. 29 of workbook). Students then began to watch the Paiute episode of We Shall Remain, a video created by the Paiute tribe today. Students answered the attention questions on page 32 of their workbooks as they viewed the episode. In Class: Tribe Location Map (p. 26), Paiute Charted Information, Paiute Video Attention Questions (ongoing - if absent, see Ms. Nay) Homework: none
